S – scripture
These are the nations that the Lord left in the land to test those Israelites who had not experienced the wars of Canaan. He did this to teach warfare to generations of Israelites who had no experience in battle. (Judges 3:1, 2 NLT)
O – observation
The Lord left some people in the land so that the next generation had someone to fight. I we do not have any battles to fight, if we do not have any experience in battle, then we will not understand what true warfare is. Everyone needs to know what it is to fight, because when you fight you depend on some one greater than yourself. If there is no fight then all you depend on is yourself. God has a purpose in every fight. It’s ok to be in the fight, maybe God is teaching us, preparing us for greater things!
A – application
The fight I face may not be the same fight others face, but it’s still a fight! I am in it to win it! The fight I am in right now is preparing me for what God has in store for me. Something greater! He may have left the fight here in order to train me for what’s ahead. I choose not to have an entitled mentality, rather I choose to fight the good fight and win the battle. What’s NEXT?
P – prayer
Lord, I know some battles are odd to have to face, but with a mentality that they are training grounds for greater warfare, then prepare me for what you have for me. I choose to be strong and courageous to fight and not sit back!
