S – scripture
They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. (1 Kings 11:2, 3 NIV)
O – observation
Whatever you fall in love with will eventually turn your heart. The Lord warned the Israelites not to intermarry and the king himself did not even follow the instruction of The Lord. Love led him astray. Whatever captures your heart can lead you to places you never imagined. As a leader, how much more should he have been an example to guard and protect his heart. Solomon’s downfall started with Love. Started with a look…started with something so innocent…
A – application
Whatever turns my heart can capture my destiny. I Need to be captivated by no one else but JESUS. He must have all of my heart. He did not come for me to divide my heart and love other activities, even the ministry… Never love the stage more than the savior! Love is what drags hearts away!
P – prayer
Lord may my love and passion for you increase more and more. May my desire just to be with you increase daily. May I wake up at night just to call on your name. I love you and I don’t want anything to drag my heart away…show me what is tugging me away from your presence.
