My morning SOAP…Story of the lame man at Bethesda.
S – scripture
When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, (John 5:6-9 NIV)
O – observation
We can be in a stirring place, but miss the presence of Jesus. Jesus asked the man that was dragged to the well daily, do you want to be whole? The difference is he kept coming, he never gave up. When Jesus showed up everything changed. Sometimes we are fixed on finding a place that stirs us,why not find a place that Jesus shows up. His presence is all I need!
A – application
Where I am, as long as I am in a place of pursuit of Jesus, is a prime place to be whole. The event can stir up a place , but only Jesus can make the individual whole. May I be more focused and more aware of your presence JESUS.
P – prayer
Lord, help me to seek you and not a stirring event. When you show up JESUS, everything changes. It’s your presence that I need most! More than a song, more than a stirring speaker…I need YOU!
