And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. So he arose and went to Eli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.” Then Eli perceived that the LORD had called the boy. (I Samuel 3:8 NKJV)
Samuel heard a voice and it sounded like Eli’s voice, so 3 times he responded to What he thought was Eli, but it was the Lord. During this time revelation was not widespread. We’re people listening? God never stops talking…or were they ignoring his voice. Ouch…can you live in his presence and never hear his voice! They were in the temple doing the work of the Lord, but revelation was not common.
How many times do we ignore the voice of God when it is spoken into our lives and discredit them for merely the voice of a pastor? We need to hear the voice of God. We need to be led by his voice, his word, and the voice of his servants that speak truth over us.
Lord give me ears to always hear your voice. Give me feet that respond quickly to what you are saying. I love the fact that every time Samuel heard the voice, he jumped up to respond. Are we this quick to respond to Gods vice?
Just a thought…we have 2 ears and one mouth…may we hear more than we speak today!
