Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD; (Proverbs 8:34-35 NKJV)
Blessing flows out of listening! If we fail to listen to God, then the blessing is hard to find. If we find our selves in the wrong places, then we won’t be able to listen. Watching daily at the gate and waiting at the door posts, is an imagery of someone wanting to hear something. It’s that leaning in, so you can hear clearly. The right place matters.
So if I truly want the blessing to flow, then I need to lean in, show up, put myself in a place where I can be close enough to hear. Simply stated…for today I need to be in His house, I need to be in His word and I need to spend time worshiping in His presence. If I want to hear clearly I need to be there daily and make that a rhythm of life. Blessing never flows out of a one time experience. Blessing flows out of relationship. Hearing clearly flows out of being in the right place. Don’t miss out on His house. Fall in love with His word. Most of find a way to watch at the gate and wait at the door!
Lord…help me to lean in more. Help me to wait more… Help me to watch for you more, so that I can hear you more clearly. I want your blessings, but most of all I want a greater relationship with you! Increase my time with you Lord!
