“Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the LORD,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said.””
John 1:22-23 NKJV
John was asked by the religious people…the priests and Levites came to question John, they asked what he would say about himself. He quotes Scripture. He points not to his own ability and testimony but what God”s word said about him. He was a voice… Not an echo, not even an image…he was crying in the wilderness to make straights the way! The word has something to say about whose we are!
What doe the word say about you? Are you an overcomer? Are you more than a conqueror? Are you a child off the king? Does greater live inside of You? Scripture speaks clearly about who we are in Christ. The journey is to live out who we are.
We need to be able to grasp what the word says about us. It’s not our opinion…it’s God’s opinion about us that matters. The way we live should make people want to ask about who we are. Maybe in the process of trying to find out who we are they can discover whose we are. I am a child of God! What truly matter most is not what I have done or will do, but rather whose I am.
Lord, whenever I feel like I have to give an answer about who I am, may I always pout to whose ai am. You are my God, you have a greater plan. So, today I pray that you would be greater!
