“Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.”
John 12:9-11 NKJV
So, Lazarus is eating dinner with Jesus. The Jews were coming and spreading word to see Jesus, but they wanted to see the miracle Lazarus. People are intrigued by the unexplainable. The man Lazarus was dead for 4 days and now he is sitting at a table eating dinner with Jesus. Here are a few lessons we can learn from Lazarus.
Lesson One: Keep your eyes on Jesus!
If we keep our eyes only on what Jesus has done, we may miss what he is about to do! The religious people in the room wanted to kill the miracle as well, because more people were following Jesus, because of seeing the miracle. More believed because of what he had done, so the religious want to kill off the works of God. Sounds like what some do today when they see churches growing in unexplainable ways. Ouch! Sounds like the religious might have been jealous, so they determined that they should simply plan to kill the miracle. Hebrews 12:2 says fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of faith.
