“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, first, Jesus Christ might show all patience, as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life.”1 Timothy 1:15-16 MEV
Paul says he is the worst of sinners. Jesus came into this world to save, but to also show mercy and patience so those that are going to believe will see MERCY and PATIENCE lived out in us and come to Christ.
Nobody’s perfect…the greatest hangup some may have is the fact that we serve a perfect God, but we are imperfect people. He died for the messed up and jacked up and he continually shows patience to those that are on the journey of faith, so that those that are about to be on the journey can have HOPE!
Lord help us to embrace grace and understand patience…so that others can see our lives and desire to follow Jesus and not follow us.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV)
O – observation
Rejoice. Pray. Give thanks. Regardless of the circumstance that life serves us, if we engage in these 3 activities we will not be moved by circumstance! Too many choose to allow circumstances to move them, when they are in control of life’s response. It’s a choice to rejoice! It’s a choice to give thanks in all circumstances… Stay on your knees and pray thru life’s circumstances.
A – application
When life serves challenges..it’s your prayer life throughout that will help us to choose the high road of rejoicing and thanksgiving. Prayer is the key to life’s responses. The posture of prayer will fuel a response of rejoicing and thanksgiving! to be more thankful and rejoice more. The high road is a road that starts with a posture of prayer. We need to find ourselves on our knees or on our faces in order to take the high road.
Lord, Help us to choose to rejoice and give thanks when life’s circumstances seem tough. Remind us to walk in grace and remind me to pray my way through life.
