Legacy is all about who are you fathering!

My Life Journal today…

Scripture:

“During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought, “I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.”  2 Samuel‬ ‭18:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation:

Absolom had no sons, so he builds a monument to himself – thinking I have no son to carry on the memory of my name. I want people to remember me.

Application:

Absolum was the son that took the kingdom from his father and then dies at the hand of Joan and is harried in a pit covered with rocks.  Legacy is all about who you Fathr. There are people in ministry that do not have a son to sow into, a son to carry on the ministry or a son to follow in their footsteps. We must be vigiallant about fathering sons that can not simply carry on our legacy, but carry ministry. Legacy is about multiplication…we need to multiply and invest ourselves in who’s next.

Prayer:

Lord help me to recognize my sons in the ministry and help me to invest in them so they can carry the mantle of ministry. Legacy is not what I do it’s what I choose to invest in.

GRACE…provides HOPE!

Scripture

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the worst. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, first, Jesus Christ might show all patience, as an example to those who were to believe in Him for eternal life.”1 Timothy ‪1:15-16 MEV

Observation

Paul says he is the worst of sinners. Jesus came into this world to save, but to also show mercy and patience so those that are going to believe will see MERCY and PATIENCE lived out in us and come to Christ.

Application

Nobody’s perfect…the greatest hangup some may have is the fact that we serve a perfect God, but we are imperfect people. He died for the messed up and jacked up and he continually shows patience to those that are on the journey of faith, so that those that are about to be on the journey can have HOPE!

Prayer

Lord help us to embrace grace and understand patience…so that others can see our lives and desire to follow Jesus and not follow us.
