“Now as the ark of the covenant of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal the daughter of Saul was looking down from the window, and when she saw King David dancing and spinning, she despised him in her heart.”
1 Chronicles 15:29 MEV
Praise is a personal response to what God has done in us and for us. Michal David’s wife did not go thru what David did to bring the ark to Jerusalem. The first time he attempted to bring Gods presence back, he mishandled it and Uzzah dies by the ark. They tri d to roll it in on a cart. We need to handle Gods presence well. But, David just wanted to bring the ark back, and not everyone was happy. Not everyone will like it. Even at the point where the ark entered the city, David was praising because of what he had been thru…Michael disposed his praise.
Don’t despise someone’s praise. Don’t look down on people because of how they praise. David was dancing and spinning! It’s time we learn to just be free enough to praise him based on all that He has done for us. We have been thru a lot, but that does not change who God is!
Praise is a response…so let’s praise him!
Lord help me to never gage my praise on the response around me! You have done so much more for me! Forgive me for the times where I was reserved, because of who was near me..I want you to be near me.
Life journal today…
“I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth I will make known Your faithfulness to all generations.”Psalms 89:1
Gods mercies are new each day, but we should not keep them to ourselves. We need to talk about the faithfulness of God. God is faithful when we are not. God is faithful when we are in need. God is faithful when we don’t have a clue what to do. In order to recognize the faithfulness of God, you have to know what it is. When you know what His faithfulness is like, then you will always look for it in every area of life. Your present Situation does not determine the faithfulness of God…he is always faithful. In order for every generation to recognize his faithfulness, you have to talk about it.
What we sing about…some sing love songs, some sing depressed songs. Whatever we sing about, point to what we are focusing on. Why not today, sing about all the faithful things God has done in you and for you. Let the world know around you what God is doing. I know we are all a work in progress and we are all at different points on the journey…but today is a good day to sing about His faithfulness.
Lord help us to simply see your hand…your faithfulness in all that we do! Open our eyes and help us to recognize your faithfulness and may we open our mouths and sing about your faithfulness, so all generations will be able to see it as well.
